SHEILDHALL TUNNELL PROJECT, GLASGOW – COSTAIN

Scottish Water is building a 3.1 mile-long waste water tunnel in the south of Glasgow as part of the biggest upgrade of the city’s waste water network in more than a century.  The £100m tunnel will be constructed from Craigton Industrial Estate and will run under Bellahouston Park, Pollok Park, along Titwood Road to Queen’s Park where it ties into the existing sewer network. The project will improve water quality in the River Clyde and its tributaries and reduce flooding issues at key location.
The tunnel will be constructed using a specially designed tunnel boring machine. The tunnel route was carefully selected to minimize disruption. It will be big enough to fit a double-decker bus inside and more than five times as long as the Clyde Tunnel. In February 2016 CDS were appointed by Costains to assist with coring holes into the piles for structural steel work. Using our Stitch Drilling Technique we were able to cut a 1.5m opening through heavily reinforced Concrete piles for another subcontractor on site.

LAW SCHOOL, EDINBURGH – GRAHAM CONSTRUCUTION

Edinburgh University has appointed GRAHAM Construction to undertake phases one to three of the Old College Refurbishment project. All of the North side and several areas on the South side of this iconic building will be comprehensively refurbished over a period of five years to provide world-class facilities for a world-class law school.

CDS were appointed at the start of 2016 to commence works on Phase 1 carrying out the Structural Alterations and Downtakings works. We are carrying out counter balance propping systems and using our specialists cutting techniques to cut through the old 800mm thick masonry walls. CDS have also assisted the ground workers on site using our Robotic Demolition Machine to remove the existing concrete floors.

AUCHANLACHAN RETIREMENT VILLAGE, LESMAHAGOW – CLARK CONTRACTS

Clark contracts approached CDS in January 2016 to seek there help with tying the into the old drainage system by cutting tracks through the concrete for their drainage contractors. CDS used our 3 phase floor saw to cut the concrete into sections and lift out. Whilst on site CDS then carried out all the penetrations for the new services through the walls and floors and the structural alterations for all the new Slapping’s in the building. CDS have almost complete all our works on site including the reinstatement of the concrete for the drainage tracks which has helped maintain Clarks tight program on site.
